Lesson Times and Tuition

Find the Right Fit

Lessons are offered once a week in my home for 30 minutes, 45 minutes, or 60 minutes.  Lesson times vary depending on age and skill level.  Young beginners are recommended to start with 30 minute lessons, but an adult beginner might want to start with 45 minutes or 60 minutes.  Likewise, a young intermediate or advanced student would benefit from 45 minute or 60 minute lessons.  Feel free to talk to me about the right fit for you or your child.

30 minutes - $120/month

45 minutes - $180/month

60 minutes - $240/month

What to Expect From Lessons

Practice slow, learn fast.  Practice fast, learn slow.

I design each lesson I offer according to my students’ abilities, and make the necessary changes once I become more familiar with their needs.  I always check in with the student about their goals as a pianist so they are learning for their own sake and have a personal goal they are motivated to work toward.

Each student will cover the following topics over the course of their studies with me: note naming and reading, technique, theory, scales, improvisation, transposing, sight reading, composers, music history, lead sheets, collaboration skills, and performance practice.

Students will be taught from the beginning how to practice so that they can get the most out of their at home practice time when I am not there to guide them.  My goal for every one of my students is to help them reach a skill level where they will no longer need me as a teacher!

“It is the greatest achievement of a teacher to enable his students to surpass him”. John G. Kemeny.
