About the Instructor
My name is Colleen Hathaway and I love being a piano teacher! I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music and a Masters in Music in piano performance from the University of North Dakota and have been teaching private piano lessons since 2010. I have taught students from preschool all the way up to age 70 and have been an instructor at the college level. Besides teaching, I have been active as a church musician and accompanist for choirs and soloists. I focus on a variety of skills in the lessons including basic and advanced music knowledge, theory, technique, musicality, and collaboration. I provide performance opportunities for students and encourage them to use music as a form of expression and personal growth. I look forward to sharing my musical knowledge and watching students grow in their musical abilities and confidence!

Why Study at Hathaway Piano Studio?
My experience as a teacher has taught me the importance of finding balance between hard work and fun. My goal is to provide an experience that truly motivates the student to advance as a pianist, musician, and person. I pride myself in being a teacher that is challenging but fun! Lessons are made interesting and exciting through the use of games, prizes, and peer motivation, but I never let the students do less than they are capable of. Students will find themselves able to achieve more than they ever expected and will love the sense of accomplishment that comes with it!
Who Can Take Lessons?
I welcome anyone age 6 and up, whether a beginner, intermediate, or advanced student. Ages 5 and under are accepted on a case by case basis.
